Where do we start? -
1) All cafes/bars in the park are currently closed, discussions ongoing between Yucelen and Forrestry Authority re new lease. Understand decision may be due around 20/3. Park looking filthy and depressing.
2) Beach front area not much better. Spica closed, new owner has development plans for site. Mev and Jane have taken over Sikadam - hoping to be open by Easter. Korfez open. Gordo Beach opened on temp basis by Izmet (from cafe in park) awaiting decision on park lease. Marina bar closing end of this month following steep increase in rent.
3) Ramon's restaurant new building almost finished - appears to be totally indoor seating with just 8 sets of patio doors along 2 sides - bad idea. Feron taken over by someone from Denizli. Golden Roof and Crystal both open.
4) Grant from DIY shop in top village redeveloping the old tea room/cafe on top road road (just down from the ATM's) as new cafe bar/club. New bar open between Ace of Spades and Dia - Tulga (singer/manager at Spica) is running it.
5) DiaSa supermarket currently closed - underestand it is to be refitted and open again soon.
6) Lots of new build going on again this winter all around the village.
7) Roads being dug up all around the lower village for new street lighting and putting more electricity cables underground. Bit of an obstacle course at the moment but no doubt will all be back to normal (??!!) for the season.
Think that will do for now - will update further if I spot anything else. |

Walked along the river yesterday and over the bridge on to the 'conservation' beach - wetlands area showing very little signs of the fire earlier in the year. Nature is recovering very quickly - only obvious evidence is the burning to the lower sections of the few trees affected by the fire. The reed beds are looking very green already.
One more update for anyone interested - the tailor/dressmaker (Hamza Boutique) has closed. Don't know if he has relocated somewhere in the village. |

The mayor wanted too much money for the lease of the tailors thats why he has closed and the same reason for the other shops that have been closed and taken over. |

The doors on Ramons are removable - it will be totally open to the elements in the summer.
In the winter the doors will replace the tent like windows so it should be a bit cozier in there.
Should open at the beginning of May. |

I can't see how Ramons will be totally open to the elements. As Ken says the walls are solid and interspaced along the sides are sets of upvc patio doors.
Ruzgar are building a large decked area where the old sand area was next to their cafe. Where the canoes etc were - looks very smart. It is still not known who will have the lease for that cafe or the forest area as the 10 year previous lease has now ended.
Muge's price list remains the same until May - although some of the Gara Ruffa fish sadly died whilst all the electrical work was being done. _________________ Mike, Emma, Ethan and Luca |
